Abstract
As immigrants move to the United States, many are challenged by a host of dilemmas ranging from adaptation to a new environment to assimilation into the mainstream culture. The purpose of the qualitative study is to gain a deeper Understanding of the experiences of five Somali immigrant families as they adjust to life In the United States. When asked about their experience, the participants revealed Similar feelings include those of loneliness, frustration, and loss. Implication for social work practice include providing valuable details to assist professionals as they develop Culturally sensitive programming, as well as educating the general public about the Unique needs of the Somali population.
