Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to determine whether or not positive employee engagement scores correlate to higher achievement of organizational goals. In order to provide context a literature review was performed to understand the current definition of employee engagement, the relationship between engagement and goals as well as an understanding of how organizational goals impact employee engagement. A correlative study between surgeon engagement scores and organizational performance measures will be performed in order to understand the relationship between the two. The results of the study will be used to aid leaders in relying on engagement in order to improve organizational performance.
